“This isn’t the first time we’ve lied to each other

Davis.” Kate replied with a smile.

“But why all of a sudden? Why the change of heart

  Joyce?” Davis asked.

“Let’s be honest, Kate takes better care of our child then you and I both did. When she called me, I knew we had to do something.” Joyce said with a smirk. “Do something about what?” He asked, gaining frustration as his face turned a beat red.

  “About you.” I chimed in.

“The term ‘deadbeat dad’ will now be a reality of yours.” Winnie said as she laughed.

We all joined in laughing, except for Davis. “Guards!” he yelled.

“Oh they aren’t going to save you, they know everything about our children and they agree, they need an actual life anyway from all this.” Joyce added.

“You’re lying, they could care less about any of you.” he said.

“That’s where you’re wrong, I spoke to the host and he agreed that if I get the girls away from all of this, we can go free.” said Joyce.

“We can go free?” Davis said, excitedly.

“Well not we, but me and the girls. Which means you get to stay here, there is always a service for male prostitute too.” Joyce said as she shrugged and walked out of the room. “Come on girls, let’s go home.” she said as she waved over her shoulder. “I’ll find you, I swear to god.” said Davis as he grunted through his teeth.

“Good luck with that but first, you have to get out of here first.” Kate said after she shut the door behind her.

We all walked down the hall together as we passed many doors.

“Mom, what about everyone else?” I whispered in her ear.

“Don’t worry about it, they will be free soon.” she winked at me.

For the first time in my life, I never felt so safe.

  CHAPTER 38

  JOYCE

The girls and I got a ride back to the safe house from the host as he thanked me for my service, he couldn’t believe that Davis had children nor that he was the reason the Capri fell apart. He was happy to give Davis a taste of his own medicine.

Kate and I prepared dinner together before we were to set off the next morning on a plane to Australia to start a new life with Winnie and Rose. Since I was still wanted, we decided that we would notify the local police about the Breach and in exchange I would not be held accountable. After a long meeting at the police station with Rose in the middle of the night, we came to an agreement that I gave up the Breach and Davis and I would be set to go wherever but I had to change my name and appearance for safety reasons. I was more than ok to do all of that and more.

The next morning, we were escorted on a plane and were set to start out new life. After a couple hours of dozing off, the girls fell asleep and Kate and I decided to turn on the news on the television and couldn’t believe our eyes.

“ This just in, another sex trafficking business has been found and is undergoing the process of setting court dates for the testimonies of the victims found. The so called, Breach, held over 130 girls in the past couple weeks as arrests have been made to Bernard De Val, Corey Bennet and Paulo Grit and charged with life in prison. After an anonymous source found the Breach hidden in the west Willow Woods, police are still searching for Davis Moore who has been linked to the Capri human trafficking case back in”

I immediately shut off the television and covered the blanket over my face. Kate’s eyes met mine and we looked down at our sleeping girls. This was just the beginning.

This story is fiction; yet a reality for the 20.9 million human trafficking victims worldwide according to the International Labor Organization in 2012.
